Been reading about this stuff and searching and it looks like nobody uses it. Developed in Austrailia and has a Florida distributor, Fore and Aft Marine. This stuff has an oily base and doesn't foam up like salt away. Leaves an oily coating that is suppose to protect metal surfaces. Anybody have any experiences.

Re: Macs Engine Flush

I never heard of it. However, I always thought one of the advantages of running 2 cycle motors in salt water was the oil helped keey the corrosion down.

Years ago I lost an old Johnny in a salt water creek. The motor was running and was lost underwater for nearly 72 hours. I managed to recover it, and figured it was toast. After I cleaned out the crankcase and cleaned up the ign system, I was able to pull-start it.

Just goes to show that 30 years of grease and oil cannot be defeated by 60 hours of saltwater....

Couldn't agree more Chris. You'll never hear about exhaust manifolds rusting out on a 2-stroke. Reason I'm real interested because I just read 2-threads on other forums about water jackets rusting through on the older yami 6-cyls. Though, both guys filled the holes with marinetex and they're still running.

Tucker, on that same thought, I used to add some 2 cycle oil (~300::1) to my 4 cycle sterndrive's fuel. I thought it might keep the intake manifold from rusting out. I never had an issue with the intake manny, but lots of other parts rusted up and fell off.....

Don't think for a minute that oil or Salt Away or anything else is going to prevent salt water corrosion. Might slow it down for a week or two, but that's about it. There might be some value in the wishful thinking department though. BTW, I've seen a ton of outboard motors with exhaust areas eaten away by salt water. That usually is the final death stroke.

Looking at their web site, the "satisfied customer" people are police depts, etc. Wonder if that adds any credibility? Their tub dosage for flushing is different than Salt Away. Checking on cost differences. Thing I'll give this stuff a try...
