Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in.....AMERICA.....

Re: Made in America

It is true, but I think it boils down to greed. We want the most money and benifits for what we do. I also think it might have to do with our Gov. all the regulations. We will probally see the same thing on oil. Now that the price of crude is up we'll see more american oil hitting the refineries. The Opec nations will see that then flood the market just like back in 85 when we saw the bottom fall out on oil.

Yep! We are indeed suckers, and that's how the rest of the world sees us.
I remember not so long ago when the Walmart slogan was "Proudly Made in America" today it's "We sell for less" that's the reason i do not shop at Walmart anymore, I'm just tired of all the crappy excuses, catch phrases and dumb one liners that most of these policy wonks come up with as they turn the citizens of this great land into quislings.
Did you know that Walmart alone accounts for over 10% of our trade defict with China?
People, I say to you, look for and buy products labeled Made in USA, that's the only way to stop the mass exportations of American jobs.
I was absent for the last week, myself and the missus spent the time in the Texas hill country,I was sadly surprise to find upon my return to the iboats forum, that so few posts were aligned to this very important topic posted by lucky jim.

WHERE ARE ALL YOU PATRIOTIC IBOATS MEMBERS?

Re: Made in America

I am told that there are some vehicles made in the USA by foreign manufactures which contain more American made parts than those of our domestic brands, could this be true?

I hear you Elmer, I own 4 vehicles and every one has a small block Chevy, I haven't been to Wal-Mart in some time. I am guilty on some items, but as time goes on I go out of my way to buy American made products, the problem is some of the workmanship here in America is inferior to other countries. My suggestion isn't "buy American" It would be more along the lines of, those of us that do make American products, make them with pride. If you make a good product people will buy it. I'll pay a few more bucks for a good quality American made product, but to shell out more money for an inferior product is a bit hard to swallow. IMHO its not just the consumers fault
