I have a 1976 Chrysler Saltwater Outboard Motor, and we are having problems locating parts for it. The stainless steel rod is badly bent and we can't seem to get it adjusted right. Can you guys help us out.

Where is "home"?
Do you need to maintain the saltwater status?
Or could you repair/replace parts with standard type?

Re: Magnito Problems

I have now found out that it is the spark advance. I am new to this so I am learning. Be patient with me. The stainless rod has a casing that helps it slide, it also connects to the gears, so we may have more than one problem. I do believe we have to maintain saltwater status, because we take it out in Trinty Bay and the gulf.

Are you talking about the drive shaft. I've got mine apart right now and the only stainless steel shaft I can find is the drive shaft-goes from powerhead to lower unit.

Try and give a description of where the rod is and what it is attached to. (ie: starboard side of engine, between carbeuretor and blah, blah, blah.) What do you mean when you say adjusting? Does it affect shifting, throttle, etc? We need something to go on!
