Change the oil, change the oil and change the oil :) <br /><br />You should look in you manual for things to maintain, like changing lower unit lube, greasing steering arm, ect... <br /><br />What motor is it, some guys here may know of certain things to keep an eye on for certain motors.

more then likely it's gonna be a yamaha 115 - 150.<br />i haven't bought it yet i wanna know about the engines before i buy.

I just had twin Suzuki DF140's put on my boat and the biggest thing was check the oil level before every use! Follow traditional mntc, lower unit lube, oil changes, flush if used in salt water, grease all fittings..... Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

is the 4 stroke outboard motor less maintinence then a Seadoo jet boat?
