Does anyone know if Majic Tilt trailer axles are a standard axle or are they some proprietary designed type thing. I have a 1986 model dual axle trailer I need to replace the axles on and I see axles for sale at some of the trailer sites online that seem to be specific to Majic Tilt. The track is the one specific difference I can see. That being the Majic Tilt is some weird off length. Is there a problem with it being replaced with a tad more or less as long as nothing is rubbing?

I would rather just use a standard replacement axle available from a local agri-supply vs. the more expensive Majic Tilt. Thanks in advance.

Ayuh,... Usually, Shorter, 'n the tires rub the springs or something...
And,...
Longer puts more of the loads in weaker spots...
But,...
That's not sayin' ya can't do what yer sayin'...

It's just without Specfics, it's kinda hard to say....

I am replacing my tandem 2000#, axles with tandem 3500# axles. My local trailer supply has tandem kits with everything I need $316.00 for the pair, springs, brackets, u-bolts, etc. There standard shortest length is longer than what I need 60" vs 54" overall length. They are having them made for me at no additional charge.

If you are just a bit narrow you could use some wheel spacers to get back to stock width. How close can you get to your current width with the standard axles?

And for a1nowell - what kind of trailer comes with dual 2K axles? Sounds like a pretty useless setup since you are close to that capacity with a lightweight single axle trailer.

Re: Majic Tilt axles

i have some more research to do as to what exactly is available since the supplier is 60 miles away. i'm pretty sure that in order to use a different (standard) axle it will require a spring seat to be welded in the right place. from what i can tell about the original it just has a hole in the axle itself for the center bolt to set in.
i think if i can get within a inch or two either way it should work. preferably shorter. i'll try to post back when i figure something out.

thanks for the input.

I know there could be a 1000 reasons but why do you need to replace the axles?
