Looking at purchasing a boat that just had $1200 worth of work done to it to repair a short in the system. Boat runs fine and work was performed by certified mechanics. The whole motor harness had to be replaced in addition to the solonoid, tach, batteries and fuel gauge. Motor has 24 hours on it and the root cause is unknown at this time, however the wiring of the dual battery set-up is suspect. Should I be warry of other electricals like the rectifiers, power packs, etc.? Advice?
Thanks

Update...owner reversed polarity on battery charger. Mechanics said all is fine as it left their premises, but would not comment on possible future issues (understandable). Anyone have any insight/experience on what to expect? Going on a test ride on Saturday.

I think any damage caused by the polarity reversal would be immediate. Since it was apparently repaired properly, there shouldn't be any worries in that department. Just make sure all the wiring is free of signs of overheating- only a problem if there was improper circuit protection.
