I started saving up vacuum tubes back when they started to get phased out. I have a whole box of them left.I used to fix my friends TV's but, once all the TV's became transistorized there was no more fixing them. Kinda hurt us poor people at first. But, everyone has so much money now they don't care if there TV breaks they just run out and get a new one.
I still have my Dad's tube kitchen radio. I remember being a kid and listening to "The Cannon Mess" on WCCO radio every night while we had family supper. The radio still works but, the tuner is a little dirty and the station drifts out fairly often. Nothing on AM radio anymore anyway.
I remember listing to that radical rock and roll on AM radio in my car as a teen. There was a station from Omaha called WOW and after dark you could pull in WLS from Chicago.
