I have a new viper prop on my 90 etec...some props are just really really eye catching shinny...Any suggestions on how to get a prop like this if it is not already...Thanks

Re: Making it shine

use a cloth wheel on a grinder or drill press. I prefer the drill press as it is easier to maneuver the prop and wheel. If needed, start with black emery to remove any roughness. Second polish on another wheel with jewelers rouge, third polish on a clean wheel with white polishing compound. It will have a mirror finish.

You can buy the compound in a kit at Sears hardware.

At least the prop can be conveniently removed and polished. I recently saw one of those mega-job shows that had divers going down to clean the prop on a cargo container ship. Each blade must have been at least 10 feet long. The diver had to keep kicking his feet back and forth to stay in position as he used a hand-held rotary wheel to clean that prop. ...NOT FOR ME!
