I have a 25 cruiser that I need to make a new mooring cover for I have the old one from the original owner but it is pretty ruff. I also have a complete boat cover but it is way to hard to put on a boat this big for normal use. I would like to buy some material and try to make a new one for my boat. I made some seats a couple years ago for a different boat but I have never tried to make anything this big. I don't want some top of the line material I don't want to mess something up that is that expensive. I am not sure any tips or tricks and places to find inexpensive material.

Re: making mooring cover

I am going to really try to figure out about trying to make one of these mooring covers. I have the cover that I fot with the boat but it has several rips were the threads have came loose over the years and I would have to replace a couple snaps. I am going to really open it up and look at it tomorrow. I also am going to make a couple calls tomorrow if I can find somewere to see if I could drop of my old cover and see what they would charge to make me a new one. Any Ideas on ballpark cost to take my cover to a canvas shop and have a new one made for my 25' cruiser.

You are right on the quote I got from the guy I talked to today. I am going to run down to his shop tomorrow and take my cover he wants to look at it he said he should beable to repair it for way cheaper Hopefully he can repair it for around 100.00. If it is two much more I will by material from somewere and make my own cover. I just looked around and I can by the material for about 150 for 8 yards and I would just need all the snaps I still have a big role of marine thread.

Re: making mooring cover

I took the cover to a guy this morning and he looked over it and said he can patch it up and fix a couple broken snaps and I am going to try to use it for another year or two and maybe buy material and try to make one. I sure wish I could watch a good video or take a class that is not thousands how to do this upolstery work.
