I got 79 checkmate, with 305 , and want to add thru hull exhaust.can i just cap it off where the exhaust, and water go's and run it straight back.I know i would need special elbow,or a 4inch riser made.I even seen where guy turned his maifolds backwards then run the pipes back.I'm just curiious about if it can be capped off where it go's through transom.I was even thinking about using mercruiser manifolds, and thermastat housing. What would be the right way to do it,and would any of the ways i said work?I'm building marine 350,and would like to get that ready while engine and stringer out.

Keep in mind of water reversion back thru the exhaust into the motor. Should have a min of 12" from center of tip outlets to center of riser outlet. Somthing like that...so if you stop fast or big waves hitting back of boat it wont flood the motor....... I have a 81 checkmate and it sits very low in the water, therfor decided not to install thru hull exhaust on my rig.
