How can i make sure that i've got enough fiberglass on the back corner of my transom?

Tomorrow i plan to bondo over the low and high spots and get the top half the boat back on.

But i dont want to get everything back togeather and the first time i put the boat in reverse and go forward it breaks off

Re: Making sure...

Skip the bondo, it won't hold up.

If all you have is mat on the transom (like you said in the other post) then you need some roving in there for strength.

Re: Making sure...

this is short strand fiberglass bondo filler

and i've got 1layer of mat. then 1 cloth.. then 1 mat..then 1 cloth.. then 2 mat...

i plan to sand the top layer of mat down.. decently flat.. then lay that short strand over it to act as the gell coat so then its flat..

I don't think that short strand will act as 'gelcoat' like you think it will. From what I remember of it and from what I've read, it's very similar to taking CSM and chopping it up in to your resin. Will act as a filler and is pretty much pre-made 'peanut butter', but isn't gelcoat. Just make sure the bondo stuff you're using isn't automotive putty mixed with short strand, make sure it's the fiberglass stuff.
