manifold end plates

When assembling the exhaust manifold end plates, should the gasket be sealed with Perfect Seal, or left dry? 1971 Merc888, Ford 302, 188hp. Also, should those bolts be torqued to 25ft-lb? Thank you for any input.

As I recall, those gaskets are paper without the graphite coating, so a thin layer Perfect Seal wouldn't hurt a thing.

Thanks Don. The gaskets are paper w/o the graphite coating. My Merc manual nor seloc says much about them. Any idea of the torque for the bolts? They are smaller dia than the boltrs to the block.

I have the same set-up in a'73 Searay . Pefect seal & 25# is exactly what I did last year.
