i have read that to test the manifold i can fill them up with aciton and check for any leaks. Shall i dis-engage the manifold from the engine befor filling it up?
Is there any other ideas how to test the manifolds?
Thanks

You definately have to remove them completely from the engine. Then you have to come up with a way to plug off either the outlet or head ports whichever is easier for you, then you can fill them with acetone is look for the leaks to appear.

Keep in mind that the acetone leakage test only proves that the manifold is or isn't leaking right now. It does tell you how long it will last. How old are the manifolds? Are you boating in salt or fresh water? Manifolds are usually only good for a maximum of 10 years. Some people say only 3-4 years. Check them carefully. Hy

My 21 yr old 5.8 manifolds are still going strong and look good. Improper winterizing cracks, and saltwater takes a heavy toll on them but it's been my experience that sweetwater and proper winterizing and they can last a long long time.
