I have to replace the manual release valve on my 2000 Johnson 90hp. I have the service manual for both the motor and the accessories(T&T). I have everything I need to do the job but the way my transom is configured(see pics) I cannot get at the screw or the snap ring. What would be my best course of action to take to remove and replace the valve???

That is what I was thinking, I do have access to an engine hoist. Is there any special way to remove, or just the four bolts that go into and through the transom. Also, would I have to disconnect all of the engine electrical and throttle cables? And when putting the motor back onto the boat would marine adhesive or silicon to be used to prevent leakage? I have never taken a motor off of a boat before with the exception of my 15 hp tiller.
