I am in the process of assembling a manual tilt system on my old '79 100hp ( put it's power trim on my "new" '78 85hp manual tilt). Just from looking at the pictures and diagrams in the manual I have been able to get most of it done but the old proverbial "one part left over" has proven true. There are 3 springs in the system...2 bigger springs that connect the thrust rod lock lever to the bolt on brackets (that go where the trim pads are on power models)...I obviuoslly know where these 2 springs go but there is a smaller spring that I have no idea where it goes. Like I said I have the manual diagram (which is the same diagram as the BRP parts page) and it shows the spring but really doesn't show what two "things" it connects. It's not the trail lock spring BTW...If anyone could tell me where this spring goes or better yet has (or could take) a couple of pictures of a manual tilt system for a similar model and send them to me or post them, I would appriciate it. Private message me if you would like to e-mail them to me and I'll send you my e-mail address.

Thanks!

That small spring hooks onto a groove in the left side of the trailering lock lever. That makes the lever swing into the normal running position when you raise the engine up from the trailering position so that you can lower the engine.

You should be able to see at that point where the other end attaches to.
