Hi all.
The cable on my 1996 Johnson 50hp (BJ50 BELEDS) has broken. I was going to order a replecement, and thought this should be part no. 0436202. However, when I tried to remove the bottom end of the cable from the cylinder and main unit, it would not move at all until I broke it off. Now the lower end of the cable does not match the picture of 0436202. And the main unit does not appear to accept a cable input. I have heard that some units had a non-replaceable cable. If mine is that type, what do I do now? Is there a fix, or do I replace the whole cylinder/main unit?

I'm in England. I think you're right in suggesting I upgrade to a power trim/tilt system. What parts will I need? I'm thinking I need the unit, a motor, wiring. Anything else? I won't do this until after the New Year.

i'd hunt for a complete integral trim assembly. you will need a junction box/relay system. i'm sure you could use one from the 3 cyl motors, or even the v4/v6 crossflow.

???-----The man appears to have the 2 cylinder motor.-----There is no way to use a big hammer to make a 3 / 4 / 6 cylinder trim / tilt unit fit on it !!!

Thanks for your posts. In early 2021 I'll be looking for a power trim/tilt unit to fit a Johnson 2 cylinder 1996 (40hp or 50 hp would fit). Also junction box/relay system.

The trim & tilt unit off the 3 cylinder 25 / 35 HP is also an option for you.
