Frank A. I saw in a post where you had a picture or diagram of a manual tilt. Could you e-mail that pic to me? Don't have the money to buy a trim/tilt motor and mine is beyond repair. Plus, I hate trying to hold the motor up and try to slide the brace in to hold the motor up while loading and unloading. My e-mail is pfr_2000@yahoo.com.

Thanks,
Joshua

Re: Manual tilt

They are never beyond repair ... they just reach a point where it is cheaper to salvage the few good parts and use a whole different core.

if you want to sell your old core, send me pm with pictures.

Re: Manual tilt

rritt, here is a few pics of the outside. The inside isn't any better really. The brushes are gone and the armature you could probably salvage. I can take a few pics of the inside if it stops raining long enough for me to get outside. I was told it worked a few times when I bought the boat but after I took it apart there isn't anyway it worked when the guy owned it. Not only does the motor not go with the reservoir but it was missing one of the brushes when I took it apart and the other one wasn't put in right.

Re: Manual tilt

As long as reservoir has same inside diameter as field frame then I don't see any big problems. There are spare holes for the cover bolts. Get the right through bolts, spin the motor 90 degrees, and you should have little trouble with that. However, if the field frame is a different diameter than the reservoir then what you have there is a McGyver. It works for one episode only. After the episode is over it costs at least twice as much to fix than before.

If reservoir and field frame are same diameter then what matters is circuit board and bearings. If circuit board is cracked or bearings not in good shape then you need to buy new commutator end cover. At that point, the cost of materials plus your time to fix might make it an unattractive option.
