manual to electric choke conversion

I want to replace my manual choke carb, with a electric choke carb, where do i run my wire for the carb, i know one is a ground, but where does the purple wire go to?

To a 12 volt power source that is turned off and on by the key switch.

Mine is connected to a switched 12 volt post on my alt. Yes sounds weird but that is where it goes on my Merc. 350 Mag. Just use a meter to find it. Beats running a wire all the way upfront.

Omc and the newer Volvo's have a great place to hook up the choke coil. Hook it to the AC Tap on the alternator. This way, you never have power to the choke until the engine is running.

if you have a traditional ignition coil, then run the purple choke wire to the + side of the coil.
