Manual winch question?

My used winch is rusty and sometimes doesn't stay latched, which creates some interesting wobbles when towing. I have looked all over to find a weight rating, but don't see any listed. I've seen replacements rated from 600 to 1200 lbs. My boat is a 21 ft Wellcraft bowrider. The trailer is an EZ Loader. The boat is listed as 2900lbs dry. Which size should I replace with? TIA

Re: Manual winch question?

buy a Fulton Winch, will last for ever. the others are junk compared. i prefer a 2 speed winch, in case of a bad ramp or tide. should be available iboat store. here's some info

SINGLE SPEED TRAILER WINCHES: The easy to use "grabber" one-way ratchet, free wheels in off position on models T600 & T1100. Easy to use two-way ratchets bring the rope into either the top of drum or the bottom to hold bow of boat down on models T903Z, T1300, T1500, T1500Z & T1801.

TWO SPEED TRAILER WINCHES: Large boats load easily with Fulton two-speed winches. One fast speed for quick pull in, the other slower speed pulls heavy loads easily. Fulton two-speed winches allow changing speeds without changing handles (except model T3700). Shift lock holds shaft in the desired gear ratio. Just lift the lock and move shaft to change speed. Models include T2005, T2605, T3205 & T3700.

T SERIES WINCH SPECIFICATIONS

*Winch Capacity Rating - All Fulton Winches are rated on the first layer of recommended rope or cable. The winch must be derated as additional layers are used. Derate the capacity 10% per additional layer of rope or cable.
** Max. Mech. Advantage - Based on first layer of recommended line on the drum. For maximum efficiency, use only the amount of line required.
