Hello everyone, Hope I'm doing this right and in the right place. I need an owner/ operators manual for a MerCruiser Alpha one 5.0 L inboard engine and out drive. I just bought this used boat and it has the installation manual but that is all. Thanks. And if I'm in the wrong place, let me know.

At the top of this forum, you'll see Don'S Adults Only section,...

In there, just follow the Mercruiser links to the Mercruiser factory manuals,...

Ok I kind of checked and found a lot of good service info but nothing in the way of "Owners/Operators" manuals like that would come with the engine when it is new.

Re: Manuals?

If you have your engine serial number handy, it might be possible to find a Mercruiser part number for the owners manual for you to make it a bit easier to find.:)

Tell you what. You find where the Mercruiser site has "Owner/ Operator" manuals listed for the year and model and I'll buy one if there is not another alternative. There seem to be plenty of repair and fix it manuals available but I have yet to find owner manuals.

Re: Manuals?

I found a nice shop manual for $5.99 that is over 900 pages long. What I would like is just the condensed version that is the original owners/operators manual that would come with the boat when it is new. When you buy a new boat, they don't give you a repair manual. I am sure that everything that is in the owners manual, is in the shop manual, somewhere
Thanks for the welcome aboard. I have been a sailor for many many years and now have had to give it up because of age and chronic illness. Now I'm trying my hand at a smaller cabin cruiser and i think it will be a nice change, but i will miss my sailboat to death. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Manuals?

I think he means something the boat manufacturer may have put out. Some do some don't.

Re: Manuals?

No it wouldn't be from the boat manufacturer. I bought the boat used and it came with a manual for the boat, A Mercruiser installation manual, and a Bayliner boat parts manual. There should be a Mercruiser owners/ operators manual. I probably don't need it but i would like to have it. Something like that comes with a new car or your lawn mower. :)

Re: Manuals?

I bought one of these owner's manuals for my Mercruiser engine/outdrive when I first got my boat. It contains simplified versions of some of the same information that is included in the service manuals. It includes basic maintenance information, some troubleshooting guides, spec sheets, instructions for starting and running the engine, servicing the drive, etc. I keep the copy in the boat in case I have trouble while on the water, but it really doesn't include anything that's not in the service manuals. Had I been more familiar with the service manuals, I'm not sure I would have purchased the owner's manual.

Re: Manuals?

Yeah, your probably right. I think I'll leave it go for now. I did get the serial #s off the flame arrestor decal though but I think I'll just study the repair service manual. It details just about everything and i can print out what is necessary to keep in the boat. thanks guys. I appreciate the help. :)
