Just curious. Where was my 1975 Evinrude 70HP made?

Were the Johnson models made at the same facility? Do these companies still produce these engines at this same place?

Was this a union shop? Is the history of this documented anywhere?

It might say where it was made on the serial number/model number tag. Probably was made in Milwaukee,Wisconsin or Waukegan Illinois, in a union shop, but there were other factories. Johnson and Evinrude production was not totally consolidated until 1978

The Milwaukee and Waukegan plants were closed in the late 90's. The former Waukegan plant is a Superfund site.
OMC went bankrupt at the end of 2000. Most engine assets were purchased by Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) in 2001. Johnson motors are no longer made.
