So i was out running around the lake the other day and the transom developed a nice crack. From best as i could tell it happened the other day on my way home when the transom saver fell off the engine and allowed it to slam onto the transom. I believe the cracks appeared when i was in reverse off the trailor. I just wanted to thank you all for the help i got from reading the other posts. I drilled the cracks to stop them and found wood still in the transom. It was damp but i dried it out as best i could and then cleaned the area and fiberglassed the cracks. If it holds until the end of the season then i plan on bracing it with some metal or find a new boat minus a motor and transfer my motor over to it. But again many thanks for all the help you provided me with by being able to have a place to read on the subject.

Scratch the bracing it part.....replace the transom and fix it right or do as you said and look for another hull. Patching a transom is bad, bad, bad.
