I am looking at a boat coming up at an auction. It says Marathon 1800 on the side. The license sticker says 1998 Alumacraft but I cannot seem to find this boat online anywhere. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Alumacraft is or was owned by Marathon Boat Group. Probably the connection. There is an Alumacraft Marathon 19' for sale on line, but the post is in french.

Alumacraft's are rock solid well built aluminum boats.

The boat looks to be very nice but I am still unable to find a Marathon 1800 anywhere. This seems strange to me and a little discouraging because help/parts may be tough to find in the future. Thanks for your responses so far.

You won't find parts anyway. Don't worry about it as long as all the paperwork is order with your state. Boat makers don't stock parts after a couple years and the designs change frequently.

Re: Marathon 1800??

Okay, finally found some information but it is conflicting. One discussion states they were built by employees from Grumman Corp. in New York and another thread states they were built in Kershaw, SC using Reinell or Fiberform molds. Although the sticker says 1998 Alumacraft I haven't found any support for that online.

The boat has a 90hp Merc with a 9.8 kicker. I am just wondering if this was a good boat in its day. Thanks
