[Reel Pleasure]

I Just sign up for my first Boatslip. Is there things other than being expensive that I should<br />be forwarned about. It is my first owned boat and<br />my first boatslip. But I am sure there are things <br />I should be warned about with slip ownership any bits of information and warnings would be welcome.<br />I hope I didn't make a mistake. FYI Boatslip is in NJ. Let me know

i don't 'SLIP'..but my peeps do.. it's pretty much stra8 forward.. no hidden charges.. but that's different other marinas... <br /><br />some ,, if your boats not in slip... they will rent it out to 'overniter's '..you come back ,, an BAM,, a boat in your slip..<br /><br />also ,, the ONLY damage your boat will ever sustain,, is 'slip damage'... protect & pad,everthin'.. don't let it bang around or scrape up & down on a nail all week.. <br /><br />plus dockin' practice is in order... <br /><br />pretty soon you'll be an 'ole pro'...

all i can say is enjoy it. you've now become a member of an exclusive group. you have the convience of taking the boat out whenever you want. if it's like the marinas i'm used to, most people spend more time hanging around the marina on their boat, than actually taking it out of the slip. get to know everyone on your dock, and know the marina staff well. the only rule i see around the marina is to always help out. lots of people need help carrying crap to and from their boats, docking, etc. its a big social scene, and a lot of fun. enjoy-

Some marina's don't let you work on your boat yourself, they must get job. Others require that you buy all parts at their store. Make sure you know exactly what their responsiblity will be when a storm is coming, particularly if you can't get there to secure your boat yourself.<br /> With all these kind of things understood, marinas can be fun places where you meet a lot of nice people.

I discovered a whole new group of friends at my marina, and second the positive comments above. Just put my boat back in the water and it was nice to get back to the "Boys in B row"!

All good advice,here's one to try- get to marina early and practice, practice and practice going into your slip stern frist.Little shaky at frist but keep trying and you'll get it-----you'l be a better boater for it.<br />Don't forget to bring your mate w/the boat pole. <br /> Tight Lines Bob
