Giving thought to storing my boat at a marina in SW Michigan next summer. Trailered, where I can pick up and drop off rather than haul 250 miles RT every weekend. What do other marinas permit the owners to do (maintenence wise) while stored at their facility (outside) ie: wash, wax, interior work? If anyone has or is doing the same pass on your experience please. Thanks i-boaters

Re: Marina Storage

Just about every marina is different. Some will let you do next to nothing and some will let you do just about anything. What all of them hate is when you bring in an outside person to do the work for you. They will usually get a percentage from the outside guy which in turn gets passed on to you.Ask many specific questions as to what you can and cant do.Charlie

Re: Marina Storage

As Charlie said, every place is different, read their rules and or your contract. With that said, If I am reading your post correctly, you are talking about storage on a trailer, not a slip in a marina. That should give you much more freedom.<br />As far as I know, around here (ohio) you can do any maintenance, washing, waxing, even engine work on trailered boats in the lot. They only stipulation that I have found here is that you are not allowed to bring in fuel in cans, and any mechanic that you hire has to be approved by the marina ( you can still do your own work).
