I am conducting a study of marine accessories and the relationship between boat size, boat type, boat use and the frequency of certain accessories being present and how commonly they are present with other specific accessories. A summary of the results will be posted online to help accessory manufacturers design better new integrated products tailored for specific niches/clusters of boaters.

We would greatly appreciate any boater coming over and taking the survey at:

http://www.rbbi.com/polls/MarineAccessoriesSurvey.htm

Once a sufficient number of surveys are in, a link to a summary of the results of the survey will be placed on our Powerboat Manufacturer Links page

http://www.rbbi.com/links/pbl.htm

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Re: Marine Accessories Survey /Study

I thought about a "gift" or prize contest, but was afraid it would draw non-boaters submitting dummy surveys for a chance to get the "gift" or win the "prize". My first prize idea was a Apple Ipod, but it would draw too many non-boaters. Then I thought about a gift certificate at one of the well known boating stores, but that might still draw "flies". So I decided to make the results of the survey a "gift" to the industry which will hopefully be a "gift" to you when manufacturers design better more innovative accessories for specific niches of boaters.

I am certainly open to "gift"/"prize" ideas that might be used with this or similar surveys to motivate "boaters only" to respond. One problem with a "prize" is we do not ask for the identity of boaters taking the survey. That makes it hard to award a prize. I did just have one idea, we could donate a certain amount of money per completed survey to a "cause" like the Tsunami, the Grow Boating Initiative, or a boating environmental cause? But that might turn those interested in the cause into fake survey ballot box stuffers?

Anyway, thanks to you and others who have already responded and please send in any ideas you have about how to motivate more boaters to take the survey.

Free tickets to major boat shows.

Can't see many non-boaters wanting those.
