Marine Alternator question.

Sorry if this is not posted in the correct spot.

Here is my question... I have a Chrysler 318 engine the alternator is shot. I would like to get a new one but not sure if the one I'm looking up will fit.

I have two links the first link is the alternator I have in the boat now.

Here is my problem... On the old alternator there are two spots to put wires and on the new one there is only one spot.
Here are the numbers that are on the alternator ANE5201S-5F .... It's a 1974 Chrysler 318 what it looks like is the OEM is a 45 Amp but not sure as the alternator has been painted over. I think this has been rebuilt several times and I want to put a new one in.

Any help would be great. All I know is that the wires that go to this was split Two wires go to one spot and one to the other. I will answer all questions the best I can.

I may be wrong, but it looks to me like there are 3- terminals on the back of the Delco (10SI) alternator..... your 2nd link.

One is a stud and nut just like your current one which will be the output wire (usually to the battery or large starter lug).

On the oval black piece at the top about 1 o'clock, there looks to be a male tab (on left) there for a wire, most likely the ignition power to the alternator.

I think you may have to change you terminal for the (ignition wire to the alternator) to a female connector and you will be good to go.

Then there's that ground screw on the top left of the case.

It looks like it should bolt up OK... just has that extra mounting material in the center.

The part #A8903 it's a delco part number. My concern is I have a 40 map and the new one is 90 amp. I'm also concerned about the external regulator on my old one and the new one has internal regulator. I'm not sure what that is.

That second link is a Delco 12si self-exciting, one-wire marine alternator.
If that's the one you are going to use, then don't worry about the sensing and exciting wires (the small ones). Just hook up the main charging wire (the big one with a ring terminal) on the back, and connect the little ground wire and you should be good to go.
Just tape up the old wires, they aren't needed for this type of alternator. Don't worry about the difference in amperage, it won't hurt a thing.
*Just a note - using a one-wire alternator makes installation very easy. However, they aren't as efficient as 3 wire alternators when charging. For a boat, it should work just fine though, all you need to do is charge the battery or batteries.
