..I know this has been covered before but can someone repost the permissable cam LSA for marine engines. Also any other specs that might pertain to water reversion. I am thinking about getting a low mileage '97 Explorer 5.0 salvage engine to replace my stolen motor. I don't want to have to spend any additional money on it at this time. Hopefully, the Explorer being basically a truck will have a suitable cam in it.

MerCruiser cam lift and duration are close to truck motors from what I hear, just timed a bit off center to prevent water from entering during that brief period where both intake and exhaust valves are both slightly open. Keeps a positive flow.

Go online to any of the aftermarket cam manufactures( Crane,Competion Cams,Crower, etc). They have marine cams and specs.listed from basicly stock to high performance. You will notice that in many cases the specs listed for marine are the same as those listed for RV's and trailer towing applications in pickups.

Yep, like Bondo said... Bolt it in and go. That sucks about your engine getting ripped off... I hate bull**** like that! When ya' catch the creep, give 'em a knuckle sandwich from me too :)
