I have a 1994 Ranger 375V bass boat that has some the carpet coming loose. I was wondering what type of adhesive I could use to reglue these areas of carpet that are coming loose.

Thanks

Re: Marine Carpet Adhesive

You could try some 3M spray adhesive but your best bet is a waterproof outdoor carpet glue. Home Depot and Lowes has that stuff harder to use but will last longer.

Re: Marine Carpet Adhesive

I've used both marine adhesive and outdoor carpet glue. The marine stuff seemed a little thicker, but they both seem to work well. You need a notched trowel to create ridges in the glue for better adhesion. The first time I did it I tried gluing it up without using the trowel and the carpet came right off. I generally wrap the carpet around any edges and use some rustproof staples to finish it off on the edges.

If you have a syphon paint gun, I would go to your local upholstery shop and buy a gallon of upholstery contact cement from his bulk stock. Take along a clean dry plastic jug. Should cost you about $15.00

The stuff sprays on real neat. Fold your carpet and do a section at a time of both the carpet and the floor. Then carefully roll out your carpet. Neat as you please!

Don't mess with trowels etc.

EDIT: I just noticed that you are only trying to do some loose sections so the above does not apply.

I use contact cement. Just brush it on both surfaces wait a bit and then bond 'em.
