Well i had my 1986 omc 4.3 in the shop to repair my shifter. The mechanic pretty much said sell this thing ASAP.then he continued to tell me all the bad things about it. He said it is a automotive 4.3 and it has no drain plugs. Im not selling my boat. I like it. How would i winterize?

Start by going to a new mechanic. It has or had plugs at one point. They maybe rounded off or broke off, but they are there.

Sounds like you need to find another mechanic. The engine blocks are the same thing as automotive, the cam, the core plugs, and the accessories on the outside of the engine are what makes it marine.
The engine does have drain plugs on either side of the block. My be a plug, or a petcock, hard to say on a 25+ year old boat.

based on my merc manual (i know his isn't...) there are even for a merc multiple types of drains (single point, multi, etc...) might just be different then what he is accustomed to seeing?
