The boat: 1981 Glassply 2100 cuddy
In 1998 I replaced the transom and a small section of the flooring/floatation compartment. The transom was mostly rotten and water had gotten into the floatation compartment, causing some rot there too.

The transom was replaced with 2 layers of 3/4" marine grade ply. After cutting them to shape and cutting them in half for installation, the wood was sealed with an epoxy wood sealer. I then glassed them in using Cold Cure epoxy.

For the floors I used exterior grade ply, untreated.

Unfortunately I didn't find the leak. Yesterday I started cutting. All of the regular ply as well as a lot of the original wood now needs to be replaced. The transom is rock-hard, even in the enclosed areas that didn't get glassed. Others will debate whether it was the grade of wood or the treatment that made the difference but I know what I'll be installing this time.

I also will be making up a good cover which will stay on whenever the boat isn't in use. There are lots of boats in this forum which would still be in great original shape if the original owner had invested $500 in a good cover ten years ago.
