I need a recommendation on a good marine spray paint to redo my plastic healm cover. Will any paint from Lowes work or do I need something special?

If Lowe's has primer and paint advertised to stick to plastic, then go for it. If not, then probably the auto parts store has paint and primer designed for the car's plastic bumpers that will work.

I used Krylon for plastic on a polypropylene plate, grey plastic to black. It worked very well. After a year with exterior exposure, still looks good.

Valspar also has an entire line of paint & primer for plastic. Lowes has it.

Krylon Fusion.... GREAT stuff.... doesn't just stick to surface but actually penetrates and chemically bonds....

Vote 2 for the Krylon, used it on a welding hood and it took alot of abuse and held up upretty well.

Auto paint is big $$$ and alot of prep and there is a high chance of screwing it up.

X3

I used it on a patch on the bottom of a hull...two years of fishing and it still looked like I had just painted. Now that's some serious abuse!

PS: It was just an ol' fiberglass fishing boat that I was much concerned about. Also it'll lift fiberglass bondo if the bondo isn't fully cured..lol...

x4 for the krylon fusion.

We have used it for quite a few things now including some automotive trim and it has worked awesome. I plan to use it on my boat to repaint the livewell covers and to repaint the plastic fenders on the trailer.

I painted a bunch of Jeep Wrangler trim parts with Fusion. I looks realy good and sticks to the plastic very well. The only problem is after about a year the sun really starts to make it look dull.
