Follow the fuel line back from the motor to the fuel tank. If there's a plastic oil tank saying AutoBlend on it, eliminate it. They failed often without warning and were the demise of many an engine. Simply mix the fuel at 50:1 as stated.

Have the water pump rebuilt! Absolutely For Sure!!! For all you know it could be original and they should never be relied on if they're more than 5 years old.

Check the gearlube and change it if it's black, milky, or if water comes out. If it's milky or if water comes out, you'd need to have the gearcase resealed. If the water is rusty, you'd need to have the gearcase rebuilt.

I'd also check the compression on each cylinder. A difference of 20 or more psi would indicate a problem that needs to be looked into. As you remove the sparkplugs, look at how they're burning. They should all look about the same. If one or more are significantly different than the others, it may also indicate a problem that needs to be looked into.

Good luck and happy boating.
