Hi. I'm sure this has been answered a bunch of times before, but I can't find a definitive answer in a forum search.

I've got a 15hp Mariner (s/n OCxxxxxx series) that has a rough idle/lack of power problem(a discussion for a later thread) that I think has a weak spark element to it. So, I am thinking of changing the plug wires.

There is no obvious method for attaching the wires on the coil end. Is it truely just a pull hard detach method and then press in the new ones?

Thanks in advance!

The wires just use the end cap on the wire and boot to hold them in place as there is no movement like a mag system, be sure to use solid core wire to replace the wires with.

Since the wires have a braided wire core there is very little to go wrong with them. I doubt the wires are the cause of a weak spark condition. Leaky boots and dirty oil soaked towers on the coils are possibilities, but not wires.
