I have a 1998 Mariner 150 EFI Offshore. After it's been warmed up for several hours (trolling, cruising, etc) and I turn it off for 30 min to an hour, it will not restart. The engine turns over, but simply will not restart. I've tried pumping the bulb while turning it over, no luck.

It has never stalled or had any problems starting when cold. I've taken it to a mechanic and he has no idea what is wrong. I have been stranded twice in the ocean and need help solving the problem. Thanks!

Hi Scott
You stated that you pumped the bulb, did the bulb get hard with fuel or stay soft?
Try and narrow the problem down a bit, how long before the engine will re-start? Do you have to do anything special to get it to start?
Also are using day tanks ro a built in fuel tank?

Is your mechanic a facrory trained mercury technician? If he is not find one, first thing he will do hook it up to a DDT a Mercury Diagnostic tool. There are a few diffent things that can cuase a warm no start condition including vapor lock......Also if you are a registered owner with mercury you have access to all there technical service bulitens, I believe there is one on that motor concerning a warm no start. Any questions feel free to E mail.

Kiekhaeferscurse- The bulb stays firm. I have a built in 65 gal tank. Usually takes 2 hours to restart. Thanks for any advice.

Beachrescue- I do not think he is Merc. certified. I will ask today about the DDT (it's still at the shop). Is vapor lock common in EFI engines? Since I bought it used, I don't have access to the technical assistance bullitens. Any help is greatly appreciated.
