Serial Number is 0a195398, model NUMBER 7050625,16 FT Skibarge, Running at 12 mph is as fast as it will go wot. I have 120-123 compression on all cyl, rebuilt the carbs one is brand new, had them adjusted last weekend, have spark on all 4, check all the electrical connections. Someone told me they had the same kind of problem, that it could be the stator, but I don't want to spend 340.00 on the stator and it's not it. Out of the water it sounds good, under a load it runs slooooww. I have new plugs, new tank, new primer ball, new plug wires, switched the coils to make sure they were ok, new starter, Rectifier (this fixed the charging issue), new battery, 1 yr old switch box. The only parts I have not changed are the stator and trigger. Could there be something with the controls? I have controls like this one. http://www.smalloutboards.com/m3586.htm the 3rd pic down. What is the leaver for that you can push in on the top? thanks for all your help.

Hey Yes I had the very same problem..I have a 115 that ran perfect out of water....But when the motor had a load on in the water it did not want to go....I wasted time and money replacing everything from coils to the switch boxes...I then replaced the Stator and trigger assenbly...Started it up and I could immediatley hear the difference and now it cant get out of its own way....Its very easy to repalace...The only tough part was remvoving the flywheel...I went on ebay and bought a flywheel puller for 20 bucks instead of the 60 something all other sites wanted...I also needed the use of a impact gun to get the nut off the flywheel beacuse you will not be able to pull that off by hand....The rest was piece of cake....The only other problem i had was the the origainal trigger plate ground wire was very long and grounded at the bottom of the motor...I just grounded it at the top...

How many rpms are you turning. Could it be that the prop has too high of a pitch for that boat.

the prop is the same, and the prop is not slipping, i don't have a rpm gauge. But I forgot the most important part, I was getting 10 mph, took off all the covers and started getting 12-13 mph. So I'am thinking something was getting hot under the covers.

I replaced the stator yesterday, and there is no Red, I have 2 yellows to the rectifer, white/green, green/white going the a block looking fuse. As I took it off I saw that the green/white was hooked to the white/green, was this installed wrong? After I put everything back together I started, it sounded better but I hooked the white/green to white/green, now I'm looking through the install guide on the back page it says if using a flywheel with magnets retained by screws to reverse the wires? Could I have messed it up, I only started it for a minute. thanks
