I've been following a thread on identifying the year of a Mariner, and, in looking at the serial number reference I realize I may have been overly optomistic about the availibility of parts for my motor.
I have a 1982 Mariner, 30 HP, w/serial number 30EL 689 407533. I thought I had found sources for various "consumable" parts (carb kits, impellers, etc.) based on my serial number. However, today I noticed that the 1984 30A EL also includes the digits (689 407533) for my motor. The parts I had found were listed by Crowley and others under "30A" designation. I couldn't find my serial number under just the "30" designation.
Anybody know how much difference between a "30" and a "30A" when it comes to parts? I'm not interested in stuff like pistons, etc. Just fuel pump kits, carb kits, impellers and maybe a cylinder head gasket.
