Re: mariner 40 oil injection

I noticed you hadn't yet received a response. If nothing else, maybe my response will move you back up in the rotation.

I have a Mariner 60 that I removed the oil injection from on the advice of a friend in the boat business. I simply unhooked the power to the oil warning light and replaced the section of fuel line from the fuel tank to the fuel filter before the priming bulb (in my case) - thus eliminating the tee to the injector.

Hopefully, if this is not right, someone will speak up on the subject but my 60 runs like a top and I don't have to worry about injector failure. I just need to make sure the operator doesn't screw up the mixture.

Of course my console now has a useless oil light on it but I can live with that a whole lot easier than a seized motor.

Hope this helps.

Hey, one other point. I don't know if your injection system is located inside the motor cowling. Mine was not and therefore very easy to remove entirely from the boat. I don't know what you would do with one inside the cowling.
