So i managed to straight gas my motor . One of the stupidest things i have ever done. Cant really blame anyone but myself, had someone else get me gas they put it in my boat i hooked it up and went in a rush since everyone was waiting... didn't even think of it.

SO anyway here i am, got a bunch of pictures. I will admit i have never been this far in an outboard but its pretty simple. I will have some questions as well.

I broke 1 head bolt, 1 port/exhaust cover bolt, 1 powerhead bolt and 1 crankcase bolt... heat didn't help with those.

There is some scoring, not terrible and some alum transfer. Ill probably have they cylinders bored to the next size and have a like new motor while I'm in here. I could probably hone it and get the same pistons but... i wouldnt feel right.

Re: Mariner 40hp rebuild W/pictures

So i need to find a machine shop to bore the cylinders over sized. The outboard place is int open till tomorrow, he knows a good shop. Parts with new hardware will be around $300. Not sure how much the shop will charge. Ill keep this thread updated with pictures as i go.
