Sorry this is a repeat of yesterday but have now read suggestions for new posters, so sorry again promise I'll do better nesxt time!! I have a mariner 4hp 1986 model, Yamaha based, looks just like yamaha AC4 model. yesterday whilst out a loud screech came from engine and the water tell tale stopped. Imeddiately stopped motor, investigated water inlet, seemed clear and tried a restart, everything was OK then for rest of day. It seems I have some sort of water pump problem but what exactly, anybody any ideas? Is pump impeller pin drive or perhaps splined and these were slipping, I don't have manual. Thanks in anticipation for your help. Don't know when water impeller was changed as have had boat and motor for only a few months.
