I'm having problems removing the lower unit,
manual sys to shift inft forward gear, undo the 4 bolts around the gearbox plus the one under the Trim tam then remove.....

but when i do this the gearbox only drop's aboit 1/4" then something is stopping it.

i'm guessing it's the gear selector rod but the manual does not mention this at all.

The rod is held in place at the powerhead end by a pin ( see pic ) but access to this pin is really tight and i cannot seem to push it either way.

can somone confirm this is what is stopping the gearbox coming off and that i do have to remove this pin to do so...

also any tips on moving the pin would be great...

thanks very much :)

Hi, you have probally found your solution, in your photo the plastic catch lifts off , upwards off the shaft and then slides to the left , i have just done my water pump, i have to sort out the correct direction for the vanes ? i think you have to place the g/box in neutral before replacecing g/box.
