hello i was wondering could anyone help with this headache i have a mariner 60 engine # OP111036 . My system is an ADI with a red stator 3 cylinder with CDM's i have no spark at all 3 cylinders i replaced the trigger box and have done the following test's

Test trigger output spec 0.2-2.0 result=3.8v manuel say's if output is higher than spec test cdm's

done a resistance test on all cdm all passed

test stator output voltage spec 100v-300v result=12v manuel say's if ouput is lower than spec do a resistance test

resistance test on stator pass

I have also noticed that the 2 yellow wires coming from the stator the insulation has melted away and the metal connections were tipping the electrical plate

If anyone has any idea's would be great thank's lad's

Re: Mariner 60 no spark

The two yellow wires coming from the stator should be your alternator output. Are they connected to a rectifier? Is this where your 12v is coming from? That's fine for the charging circuit, but if you are in fact reading only 12v from the ignition output, 12 volts won't cut it. Replace the stator.

Incidentally, the melted yellow wires sounds like the result of someone hooking up the battery backwards. This essentially turns the charging system (stator and rectifier) into a short circuit. This is bad.
