Hi this may be a stupid question.

When you run an engine should the impeller (tell tale water flow) run with the engine or only if it is in gear.

The impeller will operate as long as the engine is running.

Here is the parts list if you are referring to the 1986 Mariner 60 in your previous posts:

Under GEAR HOUSING (DRIVE SHAFT), you will see item 40 which is the driveshaft from the engine to the Lower Unit. The splines at the top of the shaft are connected to splines in the crankshaft so whenever the engine is turning the impeller is also turning. Whichever gear it is in makes no difference.

Hi there How many anodes are on my engine in total I have replaced the one that is also the trim but someone has said there may be more inside the engine. If so how many and where are they.
