g’day,

currently having gearbox seal issues (milky oil) assume the gearbox seals have gone. Can’t work out how to remove the gear housing / prop shaft.. I understand on other models removing the bolts holding the housing and pulling using a special tool, but this gear housing has no bolts / screws or anything. Does it simply just pull out? Any help is appreciated!!

Since worked out its a screw type hub carrier - now how the hec do I unscrew the carrier - the thrust nut fits on the end of the prop shaft over the splines around the other way however just spins the shaft also..
Do I need to make a special three prong tool that goes down into the carrier and try unscrew that way???

Before tearing that all apart and guessing its the prop shaft seal, you should pressure test the gear case with 5 psi of air.

Could be prop shaft, driveshaft, gearshift, or drain and fill screw gaskets.

Or, replace the fill and drain screw gaskets first, as they are the usual culprits.
Always use new screw gaskets overtime you change the deal lube.

The prop shaft seal is the most difficult to deal with.

Put up a pic of the thrust washer. On some models that is 2 pieces and needs to be pried apart. Then you can use it to unscrew the carrier which is a left hand thread. But it could also be the carrier that needs a special tool.
