Hi,

I have a 14' driver 440 boat i use for wakeboarding and have seen a almost new 60hp Bigfoot (2 Stroke) for sale, the boat yard says it will give a lot of torque for getting out of the hole, do you think this engine will be suited to wakeboarding and would I lose a lot of top speed.

I would normaly have 3 people(+kit and 40L Fuel) in boat and one being towed behind.

Cheers
Ross

The bigfoot lower unit is made for heavy applications, pontoon boat, commerial use. If your useing fatsacks for extra weight in the boat for a bigger wake, them this engine could work for you. You might loose a few MPH at top end, but make sure your RPM range is still between 5000-5250

I don't know what a driver 440 boat is, but more importantly, we need to know what motor are you using now to know if you will be losing top end speed.

Hi,
A driver '440 is a v-hull 14' speedboat(very light), I have a 70hp Mercury (2 stroke) 1981 at the moment, the boat yard are saying a near new 60hp mariner bigfoot should provide the same performance (But they are trying to sell me it and they have no other sutable used engines in stock)

Cheers
Ross

Re: Mariner Bigfoot on ski boat

Hi All,
I went for the Mariner 60hp bigfoot in the end, it pulls me up on a wakeboard with ease (200+ pounds) with 3 people in the boat and kit, and will get to about 37mph, I have a 13 3/4, 17 pitch prop on it, the good thing is it only uses about 10 litres of fuel in a 4 hour session.

The bigfoot could be an option for those of you out there that want to wakeboard, need good hole shot and don't have a big budget, has anybody else out there used a bigfoot on a vhull type sport boat? i'd be interested to know how you got on.

Cheers
Ross, in the UK (were outboards and petrol is very expensive)
