I have a 90hp 1984 inline 6 Mariner outboard
How do you check the resistance in the stator and the trigger coil to insure they are ok when you have a spark plug not firing. I think i have a bad switch box but want to be sure.
Can you replace one switch box at a time or only in pairs?
Can you use switch boxes from Sierra along with mercury?
What do the rev numbers mean on the switch box and are they compatible with older ones?
Thanks

Re: Mariner stator

i hope this will help my friend !!! i have a 1984 mairner 115 and have found a group of guys that have a newsgroup, all the guys on here make a living racing and working on these old motors. they also sell tons of used parts on ebay and if you need a stator for that motor it cost about 60 byucks and they guarantee it just goto ebay motors and look under boats\motor and parts and type in the search box " stator " clams got one for sale right not and email him. but anyway you will love this newsgroup. follow these instruction and ask them all the questions.

there is an online discussion group (newsgroup) dedicated to inline 6's care and feeding! The NNTP server is: news.kraits.org and the newsgroup is: bigweek.mercury-inlines. In Outlook Express use: tools/accounts/add/news and then follow the prompts to join us there! See my "Me" page for more info!

thanks and good luck
