That is a 1986 45hp Mariner. A good start for propping for a pontoon application will probably start with a 8 or 9 pitch. The important thing to remember is to keep the wide open throttle in the correct operating range. And last, but not least, yes a tach can be connected to this engine. Just follow the installation instructions that are supplied with most new gauges.<br /><br />Good luck!
