In process of fully restoring 1959 Mark 35A, will eventually be building ZIP boat to suit.

Question is the tilt tube on the merc appears to be 1/2" ID, will this work with a standard 'teleflex' type of steering system?

Thought I had found somewhere on this site someone who had 'bored' parts on merc motor to accept larger diameter tilt tube, but can't find that again.

Once again thanks for all your help.

PS I've seen photos of similar motors where the handle on the top of the cowl is chrome. Thought that would look good but want it to be a true restoration, thoughts and comments.

Re: Mark 35A Steering

Hi,

http://www.trmarine.com/ makes some steering adapters you may be able to adapt to yours. Merc used to make one to but I doubt anyone has them anymore.
