Max HP rating for a Chrysler trihull 16' 1973 ?

Just bought this boat for the 70hp evinrude it has on it, would like to switch motor with a 85hpv4 johnson but don't know the max HP rating for that hull, it's a Sport Fury

hi welcome,

the max hp is on the, hull plate on the inner transom, i think an 85 was max.

but the uscg reues in the restoration forum, (at the top) have the calculations for max hp.

Maybe only 75hp. Friend had similar years ago.
Thing is, the 85 probably a lot heavier...best I can guess at..

Saw a thread not to long ago, a guy had posted pictures of brochures of that exact same boat with the HP rating but can't find that thread anymore or maybe it wasn't here

put it on.. should be fine if the transom is solid.

haha, I actually did my csi home work, magnifying lense, rubbing a pencil on a piece of paper on top of the sticker but didn't have a microscope
