hey guys;

I have a '91 Johnson 200GT and was wondering what should be the max water pressure when trimming up? I was playing around this weekend running at 62mph, and noticed the PSI at 15, that seems low to me. would that be right? and how high can I go?

Seems low to me too.Normally,the higher the rpm's the higher the water pressure should be.Although,if you are running@62mph with the motor trimmed up too high you may lose water to the pickup on the lower unit.That may be the problem if pressure is higher at lower speeds.Or,the impeller on the water pump may be slipping.Watch the guage thru idle to fast.

Not sure 'bout actual numbers Dz but I would think max psi is going to depend on how strong the impeller is.....like is it new or been in a couple years? Is the housing and cup in good shape? No deep grooves in the impeller plate or cup? I think I would be more interested in some reference readings to go by. Then if it starts dropping off, may be time for a pump overhaul.

The actual reading on your gauge will depend on a couple of things;

Where the gauge line is hooked into the system --
Which water pump kit you have --
Your X dimension (too high for standard water pick ups?)
And if your gauge is OK

Did it ever read more?
